as a friend/reader, you're aware that in the past year we've moved from NYC for a job, quit that new job, had a baby who lived in the NICU, got that baby out of the NICU, and are still looking for a job. but it's a tender mercy that aj was home this whole time to help, truly couldn't have done it without him (slow clappin' for you baby, i know you're readin' this).
but wouldn't ya know it?? all these potential job opportunities here, and not a single step of progress has been made. not because AJ isn't a freaking BOSS. but because God had a different plan for us.
surprise, surprise. He's got such a great sense of adventure and humor that one:)
AJ has been trying to convince me to move back home to utah for about 6 months. every month i'm like "no, no... let's stick it out here. i love our friends, i love our view, we can do this." but he's a persistent little bugger. constantly sneaking SLC homes for sale into my inbox... bringing it up in front of friends and family, who would then turn on me and be like "what the heck, girl, get yo butt back home to utah." you know the drill.
then a few weeks ago my parents come for a visit and we decide to take everyone to the giants game. we've been before, what a great tradition for families all over america. remie and aj cheer for the dodgers, i cheer for the yankees and sam cheers for the giants, all at the same time, regardless of who's playing. it's a good time.
>>> p.s. remie's first time to behinana. her face. LOL.
although this time, the people who sat right behind us are totally buzzed. like it's the 2nd inning, why are you so drunk already??? i'm kinda annoyed because sheppy is with us and i'm afraid their gonna spill their drinks on him, so i'm like hyper alert. and of course they start talking about the most crude things with the most foul language. my sweet remie is so interested by what's happening behind us she cannot stop looking and her ears are like dumbo ears right now. SHE HEARS EVERYTHING.
i thought about asking them to be sensitive to the tiny ears in front of them. but this is SF, and they're drunk. i would've regretted it the moment i said it, because surely a lashing would happen because i wasn't minding my own business.
so we left early and i kept thinking "why am i subjecting my kids to such things when i have complete control over where we hang out/live." because i want to live in SF, they are constantly bombarded with CBD ads all over the city, foul language on the streets, broken beer bottles in the gutters, etc. don't get me wrong, i don't live in the tenderloin, but stuff life this happens everywhere, it's just magnified here.
that kinda put a damper on my SF sunny outlook. because honestly, stuff like that happens everywhere, and not all the time, but even less in utah. it's just more focused on families, and because of that there's more sensitivity.
then we go to seattle for the 4th and BOY, OH, BOY were my kids in heaven. our cousins have a trampoline, yard, no downstairs neighbors, a driveway with no pieces of glass anywhere... it's AMAZING. i basically didn't see my older kids for 4 days because they were out getting dirty and having fun and THAT WAS AMAZING for me:)
are you catching where this is going? major epiphanies were happing in my brain over here.
we got home from seattle wednesday.
thursday, we decided to pray about moving to utah.
friday, we went to the temple (a special place where members of our faith can go and find extra support in prayer) to get extra clarity. and so glad we did, cause man does it feel right.
saturday, book tickets to SLC.
monday (YESTERDAY), aj flies out there to find a home.
can we all together repeat "WHAT THE CRAP IS HAPPENING?!?!?"
i know what you're thinking:

cause i'm thinking it, too. but trust us. it's going to be okay. the kids started crying tears of excitement when we told them and everyone has been so supportive. the puzzle pieces are falling into place perfectly and quickly. school starts in 5 weeks, so we needed to move quick to get them settled and ready for the next school year.
the kids and i will fly out next week and do a few things. then aj and i will come back and pack up and bring it all to utah. (but really i want aj to give in to my pestering about hiring movers....[are you still reading, aj???])
SO BASICALLY: don't be surprised if we move again in a year, cause obviously we have serious issues sitting still.
but we're also moving in hopes that we can actually sit still!! no longer will the first words out of our mouths in the morning be "quiet feet!!!" as they run into our bedroom. i won't have to tell sam to "stop jumping on the couch and go jump on my bed." i won't have to say "go see if downstairs neighbors are home" before remie does a tap-dance number in the kitchen.
i'll quickly become a "YES mom" and i'm wildly pumped about that.
so come visit us in 3 months. we'll let the kids wreck the playroom while the parents sit and chat in a completely different room. cause i think that's kinda normal and you can do that when you have a house, right....????
love you all. seriously come visit.
