"i love the zoo. i love that remix can be exposed to this every week... but i honestly feel bad for those animals. so i really hate zoo's. but i won't let her know how i really feel until she's a mom then she can hate it with me. chill out, and let her be little."
"kids here sometimes are nice. what's the ratio of snotty kids to genuinely good kids? look that up when you get home."
>> if you didn't hear this story: one morning while headed to the grocery store, some kids (ages 6 & 7) sat down next to us with their dad. instead of pulling out electronics for the bus ride, they pulled out baseball cards. good work, parents!! they were counting their goods as remix watched completely fascinated. after a few minutes, the little boy reached out and gave remix a baseball card and said "here you can start your own collection!" i was so touched that he would, without second thought, give her one of his 50 cards. he then said, after recounting, "i have 49 now." he wasn't even sad and it was one of those "faith in humanity restored" moments.
those parents are doing something right.
"it's sort of unfair that God lets these little bodies grow up and leave us behind. i mean, doesn't He know that i want her little forever? i don't even care how much sand is in those little butt cheeks, i want her to be like this forever."
"this state park is nothing like i grew up with. since when do you have a carousel and pool in the middle of a wooded area? just smile and don't let them know what you're really thinking..."
"oh gosh, so glad he's carrying her. i'm even more tired just looking at him. [stop panting.] we're never doing this again. at least not until we can bring our pack donkey."
"good job, amanda. mom fail. you trek all the way to the pool just to discover it's closed! i told you to check the website before hand!
OHHH WAIT, a watermelon stand!"
"pat yo self on the back lady! you truly out did yourself today and all you really have to show for it is a completely JAM PACKED kitchen. so that's good. you definitely deserve a bowl of reeces puffs tonight."
"we're so lucky to live here, besides the fact that the river smells like dead fish and i'm pretty sure that's an oil spill... come on remix, stop playing with that rusty nail, time to go home!"
"yeah, girl, i feel you. church is long sometimes."
"look at her look at those toys as i just stand by watching. i'm probably being a bad mom by not buying her any.... or am i???
google that when i get home."
"DANG this weather feels GOOOOOD. good job dressing her today! why does she always look like she belongs in this city and i look like i belong on a farm? when was the last time i shopped for myself? omg, when was the last time i entered an adult clothing store?! when was the last time i shaved my armpits?!?
hide. hide yourself now."
"FALSE ALARM! fall is no where to be seen. it was your usual NYC LIE. sure, remix. you can escape from the heat down there."
"what exactly would happen if i got into that water? would the seals play with me? would they bite me? how long would it take before they pulled me out? for heavens sake, i've got swack (sweaty back) like no ones business. i need to find relief!"
"she doesn't even know that penguins live in bodies of water hundreds of thousands of times this big. shut up, amanda and let her just be impressed!"
"wow, now i appeal to all people in this city. i get the attention of baby lovers AND dog lovers now! WIN! i need to dog sit more often."
"dag nab it! stop trying to make my heart burst, child. i mean I know YOU know you're cute, but when you smile like that and i don't have tissues in my pocket... well that's just not fair."
"i'm going to make her turn in those rocks and acorns for food. she needs to start earning her keep somehow... [makes myself laugh.]"
upon reflection i realize that in my mind i sound really worried and pessimistic! but i promise, life is good. we're just chillin, snackin, walkin, doin our thing. rest easy, peeps, we're still alive.
