the prideful sewer.

it's been forever!!! realistically, only 2 weeks, but that's a long time. last friday came - and i just wasn't in the mood - you know how that is. i was in a funk! there's no shame, no denying, because it happens to everyone. my mental load was heavy and i just couldn't be my normal self. BUT welcome, new day!

awhile ago i alluded to a little project i was working on... it started here:

(secret picked out the fabric. i know, impressive.)

then i made the bodice. (at this point, i'm still pumped about my project..)

on go the sleeves, which would soon cause me so much frustration that i would stop sewing for 3 weeks, and stop taking pictures of every step (because they were repeated faaaaarrrr toooo many times).

and finally the end result!

it only took 4 months.

sewing is great. it helps you feel a variety of emotions that you don't get to feel very often... sewers excitement, sewers exhaustion, sewers frustration, sewers rage, sewers delight, sewers relief and, don't forget... sewers accomplishment.

i was so excited about this accomplishment, that i decided to go back up to britex and find more fabric, with the intentions of doing something marvellous.

i found this AWESOME remnant fabric on sale and i thought "placemats". don't you see this and  think  [***placemats***]  ??



i also am super prideful about having "one of a kind" things. so i love the idea of people being all like: hey, cool placemats! where'd you find these??

and i can be all: oh, these old things? i made them.

and then their face will make an expression of amazement.

and i'll slyly smile.

so soon watch out for these babies!
